Women's Health
Care for every stage
From your reproductive years through pregnancy, postpartum and menopause, we take a whole-person approach to women's health.
Stress and Nervous System Health
Modern life places constant demands on our bodies. Whether it's long hours at a desk, physical work, caring for young children, poor sleep, sporting injuries, or the everyday pressures of life, these stressors can influence how we move, feel, and function.
Pain is often the body's way of signalling that something needs attention. While symptoms can appear in one area, they are often influenced by a combination of physical, emotional, and lifestyle factors.
At The Healing Nest, our approach goes beyond simply looking at where it hurts. We take the time to understand your health history, daily habits, posture, movement patterns, and nervous system function to build a personalised plan of care.
Many people seek chiropractic care for concerns such as:
- Neck pain
- Back pain
- Headaches
- Postural strain
- Migraines
- Joint stiffness
- Muscle tension
- General aches and pains
- Hypermobility
Our chiropractic care is gentle, individualised, and focused on supporting healthy movement and nervous system function. If required, X-rays are taken on the initial consultation at a local imaging centre. The goal is to help you move more comfortably, improve your overall function, and support your body's ability to adapt to the physical demands of everyday life.
Healthy Cycles
A healthy menstrual cycle is often an important indicator of overall wellbeing. Throughout the reproductive years, hormonal fluctuations, stress, nutrition, sleep, and lifestyle can all influence how your body experiences each cycle.
At The Healing Nest, we take a whole-person approach to women's health. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, we take the time to understand your health history, lifestyle, and individual goals to provide care that is tailored to you.
Many women seek chiropractic care during their reproductive years for concerns such as:
- Menstrual discomfort
- Pelvic or lower back tension
- Changes in posture or movement
- Stress and physical tension
- Preparing for pregnancy
- Supporting overall wellbeing
As part of your care, Dr Carina may incorporate gentle chiropractic techniques that assess and address movement and function through the pelvis and spine where clinically appropriate. Care is always individualised and based on your assessment and presentation.
Where suitable, we may also recommend evidence-informed herbal or nutritional supplements to complement your care and support your overall health. Any recommendations are tailored to your individual needs, health history, and goals.
Pregnancy Chiropractic Care
Pregnancy is one of the most incredible transformations the body can experience. As your baby grows, your body naturally adapts to support this journey. Hormonal changes, postural shifts, changes in your centre of gravity, and increased physical demands can all contribute to discomfort throughout pregnancy.
At The Healing Nest, we provide gentle, pregnancy-specific chiropractic care designed to support you throughout each trimester. Our care is tailored to your individual needs and adapted as your body changes.
Many women choose to see a chiropractor during pregnancy for concerns such as:
- Lower back pain
- Pelvic girdle pain
- Hip discomfort
- Neck and shoulder tension
- Mid-back pain
- Sciatic-type symptoms
- Postural changes
- General muscular aches and stiffness
Every consultation begins with a thorough assessment to ensure your care is appropriate for your stage of pregnancy. Gentle techniques and pregnancy-specific positioning are used to keep both you and your baby comfortable throughout your visit.
Our focus is on supporting healthy movement, improving comfort, and helping your body adapt to the physical changes of pregnancy. We also believe that creating time for mothers to slow down, feel supported, and prioritise their own wellbeing is an important part of prenatal care.
Whether you're newly pregnant, preparing for birth, or seeking support later in pregnancy, we're here to provide compassionate, personalised care in a calm and nurturing environment.
Pregnancy-specific care
Dr Carina has completed additional training in pregnancy and paediatric chiropractic care and has a special interest in supporting women through pregnancy, postpartum, and motherhood. Care is always tailored to the individual, with techniques selected to suit your comfort, preferences, and stage of pregnancy.
We welcome you to The Healing Nest — a space where you can feel heard, supported, and cared for as you prepare to welcome your little one.
Postpartum Chiropractic Care
The weeks and months after birth are often described as the “fourth trimester” — a time of incredible healing, adjustment, and change for both mother and baby.
Whether your birth was vaginal or by caesarean section, your body has been through a significant physical experience. Feeding, lifting, carrying, interrupted sleep, and caring for a newborn can place new demands on your body, often before you've had time to fully recover.
At The Healing Nest, we provide gentle, individualised chiropractic care to support mothers as they navigate this important stage of life. Our goal is to help you feel supported, cared for, and confident as your body recovers and adapts to motherhood.
Many women seek chiropractic care during the postpartum period for concerns such as:
- Neck and shoulder tension from feeding and carrying your baby
- Mid and lower back discomfort
- Pelvic or hip pain
- Postural strain
- Muscle tightness and stiffness
- General aches associated with caring for a newborn
Your individual recovery, birth experience, and health goals are all discussed in your New Patient Appointment. Care is adapted to your comfort and stage of healing, allowing you to receive support in a calm, welcoming environment.
Supporting mothers through the fourth trimester
Dr Carina has a special interest in women's health, pregnancy, postpartum care, and paediatric chiropractic. She has undertaken additional training in caring for mothers and babies and is currently completing further study towards becoming an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
Whether you're a few weeks postpartum or several months into motherhood, we're here to support you as you recover, move, and care for your growing family.
Perimenopause
Perimenopause is the natural transition leading up to menopause, often beginning in a woman's 40s, although it can start earlier. During this time, hormone levels — particularly oestrogen and progesterone — begin to fluctuate before gradually declining. These hormonal changes can influence many systems throughout the body, as oestrogen receptors are found in the brain, bones, muscles, joints, skin, blood vessels, and pelvic tissues.
As oestrogen levels fluctuate and eventually decline, many women notice changes such as:
- Increased muscle and joint aches
- Neck and back pain
- Stiffness, particularly in the morning
- Reduced muscle recovery after exercise
- Changes in sleep quality
- Headaches
- Hot flushes and night sweats
- Mood changes or increased stress sensitivity
- Reduced energy levels
Oestrogen plays an important role in supporting collagen production, joint health, muscle function, and the body's inflammatory response. As levels change during perimenopause, some women find they feel stiffer, experience more general aches and pains, or notice that their body doesn't recover as quickly as it once did. Every woman's experience is different, and symptoms can vary considerably.
At The Healing Nest, we understand that these changes can affect not only how you feel physically but also your confidence, energy, and quality of life. Our approach begins with listening to your story and understanding your individual health goals.
Many women seek chiropractic care during perimenopause for concerns such as:
- Neck and back pain
- Joint stiffness
- Muscle tension
- Headaches
- Postural discomfort
- Reduced mobility
- Physical stress and tension
Dr Carina provides gentle, nervous system-focused chiropractic care tailored to your individual needs and stage of life. Where appropriate, she may also recommend evidence-informed herbal or nutritional supplements to complement your care and support your overall wellbeing. Any recommendations are individualised and based on your health history and goals.
Perimenopause is not simply the years leading up to menopause — it's a significant transition that deserves support and understanding. At The Healing Nest, we aim to provide a calm, welcoming space where women feel heard, educated, and empowered to care for their bodies through every stage of life.
Menopause
Menopause marks a new chapter in a woman's life. It is officially diagnosed after 12 consecutive months without a menstrual period and signifies the end of the reproductive years. While menopause is a natural stage of ageing, the changes that accompany it can affect many aspects of health and wellbeing.
Following menopause, oestrogen levels remain lower than they were during the reproductive years. Because oestrogen plays an important role in supporting bone health, muscle function, connective tissue, and joint mobility, many women notice changes in how their bodies feel and move.
Some women experience:
- Joint and muscle aches
- Neck and back pain
- Increased stiffness
- Reduced flexibility
- Slower recovery after physical activity
- Hot flushes and night sweats
- Sleep disturbances
- Mood changes
- Reduced energy
Every woman's experience is unique. Some transition through menopause with few symptoms, while others find the physical and emotional changes significantly impact their daily life.
At The Healing Nest, we believe menopause is a time to invest in your long-term health. Our focus is on supporting healthy movement, maintaining mobility, and helping you continue doing the things you love with confidence.
Many women choose chiropractic care to help manage musculoskeletal concerns, improve movement, and reduce physical tension. Dr Carina provides gentle, nervous system-focused chiropractic care that is tailored to your individual needs, lifestyle, and health goals.
Where clinically appropriate, Dr Carina may also recommend evidence-informed herbal or nutritional supplements to complement your care and support your overall wellbeing. These recommendations are always personalised and made in consideration of your health history and any other healthcare providers involved in your care.
Menopause is not the end of vitality — it's the beginning of a new season. With the right support, many women discover greater strength, resilience, and confidence than ever before. At The Healing Nest, we're here to support you through this transition with compassionate, personalised care that helps you feel your best for the years ahead.
